There's nothing wrong with starting out as a generalist - or with staying that way, for that matter, if that's what works for you. But the more you write, the better of an idea you'll start to have of both the type of writing and clients you're drawn to, and of what best fits your values, your goals and your real life.

My biggest struggle will be step three, I think, so I'm intrigued by the idea of a niche finding me.
